Southport Grocery & Café

Posted By admin On June 12, 2009 @ 1:38 pm In | No Comments

Specialty food store 2.0? It’s a grocery store whose products are incorporated into the menu of its delicious and popular adjoining café.

If you liked it for brunch, perhaps you’ll pick up their bread pudding pancake mix or the organic Maple Valley syrup from Wisconsin on your way out! And you might want to add a cupcake, as they’re local favorites. We also recommend a couple bags of the hard-to-find artisan pasta, Benedetto Cavalieri and Martelli [1].

The café gets busy on weekends—best to arrive before 10am and after 2pm. If your hunger pains just won’t wait, you can find refuge in the Potbelly sandwich shop down the street—another Chicago original! (Love their toasted turkey and cheese with hot peppers)
