Their signature classic: the dark chocolate toffee starts out with sweet cream butter, pure cane sugar, and fresh California almonds. The toffee is then smothered in rich dark Guittard chocolate and sprinkled with crushed walnuts. When I sent a sample of the dark chocolate toffee to a Bon Appétit magazine editor, his response was “It was sick!” (in a good way, of course).
After making her husband’s grandmother’s toffee recipe for the last 15 years—and finally yielding to the call from friends and family to turn it into a business—Heather Mubarak started The Toffee Box in a shared kitchen in San Diego. With a feature as “Snack of the Day” on the Rachael Ray Show, awards from the 2010 Los Angeles Luxury Chocolate Salon , and stocking more and more shelves around southern California, The Toffee Box treats are not to be missed! Plus, each product is all natural and free of preservatives and additives.
